low demand. Both buyers and sellers claimed that low consumer spending was a
result of rising inflation. Sources say that the strong dollar has slowed
Asian import demand. A seller from Southeast Asia said that integrated
producers could still make up for lost polymer margins by selling lucrative oil
business. Malaysia's Pengerang Refining and Petrochemical shut down its
petrochemical production units after an explosion and fire in October. The
company stated Oct. 27. 31. The petrochemical units at a Petronas oil
