because inventories were low. China's
suppliers were only catering to contract customers, and there were no spot
cargoes. Some traders, however, were looking at their inventories before offering
spot. They preferred to wait for discussions. The ICE March Brent crude oil futures fell $5.79/b to
$80.40/b by 4:30 PM Singapore time (0830 GMT), Jan. 4. According to market participants, producers in India may
soon face another price increase due to a shortage of material. An official from a major Indian manufacturer stated that
