Due to low demand and high feedstock
prices, the Asian phenol and Acetone markets were weak to stable on Aug. 16. The CFR China phenol marker was unchanged at
$1,185-1,200/mt on August 16, while the Chinese domestic market for phenol was
higher. In line with a lower China domestic market, the
CFR China Acetone marker was down $22-27/mt this week at $590-620/mt on August 16. A source
claimed that "I haven't heard any major changes this Week." Spot
negotiations remained limited because buyers were reluctant even to accept lower
offers. Sources indicated that logistics were much
better than in March and April, but still not as normal. A trader
stated that there are still many disruptions due to vessel bookings and high
freight...
