The price of virgin polyethylene
Terephthalate in Northwest Europe started to level off over the week ending
February 9, while prices in the UK remained steady or slightly lower. Sources
earlier this week noted that spot prices had plateaued due to rising production
costs, delayed material arrivals, and other factors. Sources say that some European producers are operating below
their full capacity due to difficulties in obtaining feedstocks. This could
partly be because of delayed Asian imports of raw materials. A European producer stated that European producers refused
to reduce their offer levels in the face of rising raw material and energy
prices and rising Asian prices. With
