Participants in the Asian MTBE Market were
left behind by the slow demand, which led to pessimistic sentiments. Sources believed that the
slower trade momentum was due to a weakening gasoline market as the market
moved closer to fall and winter. The
gasoline-blending requirements would continue to show a muted pace until
gasoline cracks showed signs that they were recovering and road mobility was
rekindled. The FOB Singapore MTBE physical
oil price closed at $946.50-960.50/mt on Sept. 12. This was due to the upstream
crude oil market securing a bit more stability. Formosa Petrochemical Corp. is currently offering 10,000 mt
minimum 98% purity cargo MTBE, with a maximum of 10 ppm sulfur, maximum
methanol content of 0.5 %, and maximum water content...
