Asian benzene suffered further losses on
June 14th, falling by more than $90-95/mt compared to the previous session. The
FOB Korea marker was down $6-7/mt, at $1,352. The market continued to be
affected by July's offers at 67/mt. Other
aromatics markets were also lower, with downstream styrene monomer down $10-15/mt
to $1,441-1,460/mt CFR China. Upstream
markets saw August ICE Brent crude oil futures rise by $3.65-4.50/b at $123.26-140.50/b
at $123. A trader said that participants
in the benzene industry were concerned about the possible impact of South
Korea's ongoing truck strike on products like styrene monomer or styrenics.
These products are frequently transported by truck. According to market sources, SM producers in South Korea
