Asian benzene was stable at $1,230-1,270/mt
FOB Korea on July 1, but September prices rose and August lost some support. The
August-September backwardation narrowed from $25-30/mt to $22-26/mt. Styrene monomer rose $20-25/mt from $1,327-1,360/mt
China CFR, while FOB China was valued up $13-18/mt, at $1,362.50-1,400/mt. Upstream
markets saw September ICE Brent crude oil futures rise $1.61-2.26/barrel at $111.08-140.25/b
in Asian trade at 0830 GMT. According to July 4th custom data,
Japan's benzene imports fell 27.3% to 32,513mt. In other news, Thailand's
benzene exports dropped 32% month-on-month to 34,524mt in May.
