Japan buying supports South Korea,
Northeast Asia  China's demand is limited, with exports seen  



Asian butadiene prices
were mixed on April 28. The CFR Northeast Asia price rose $20-25/mt per day due
to demand from Japan, while the CFR China price remained stable due to limited
demand. Due to the stronger demand from Japan, FOB Korea's butadiene
price rose $20-25/mt per day. One 1,000-mt
spot cargo of butadiene was traded at $1500-1600/mt FOB Korea. It was then sold
in the high-$1,500s/mt CFR Japan for the end-May. Japan was experiencing some spot demand, despite lower steam
cracker operations. Due to logistical
constraints, however, the deal volume was restricted to 1,000 mt. Japan buyers are more inclined to pay premiums for FOB Korea
cargoes. According to market sources,
Japan will likely not support the Asian butadiene demand...
