Demand for acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene
in Europe in the week to Dec. 14 was low, with several market sources saying
that December has been the worst month they can remember in terms of demand. Due to the shorter trading periods, December is
considered weak for ABS demand. This is because holidays in Europe cut into
December's trading period. Destocking before the end of the year
usually reduces demand. Destocking this year has increased
already low demand. Some converters are said to be closing down their
operations earlier due to lack of downstream demand. Although
January orders were higher than December's, one producer said that January's
