The spot export acrylonitrile levels
remained steady in December, as the market was still weak to start the new year. Spot export ACN was $1,430-1470/mt Jan. 3, flat
since Dec. 20. In January, there were no new offers, bids or
trades. Domestically, the ACN CP was 67c/lb and stable
since Dec. 20. This assessment was based upon an
industry-accepted formula that took into account the December chemical grade
propylene contract settlement at 30.5c/lb and the December ammoniaCP of $1,030-1,070/mt. According
to market participants, the CGP settlement was reached December 20. Sources
indicated that the USGC ammonia market was quiet in January, with the exception
of the settlement at $975990/mt CFR Tampa of January contract levels. January's
settlement was $85-90/mt less than January 2022.
