Chinese methanol markets were stronger
after the Chinese government Nov. 11, relaxed COVID-19 controls. A cargo
arriving in Taicang in Dec was heard being offered at $320/mt while a selling
indicator for a cargo arriving in Jan was heard at $313/mt CFR China. This is
expected to stop the decline in methanol prices. Methanol prices declined in India on Nov. 14,
despite expectations of ample supply and bearish fundamentals. Sources said
that Iran offered a minus 2 percent discount on the formula prices, while
buyers wanted minus 4 percent for cargoes loaded end November to early
December. However, India's methanol supply was well supported by imports from
Iran and Russia in the second half of November through first-half December. Due to sharp
