last week to $1.225-2.450/mt FOB Korea. It was down $19-24/mt at $1,180-1,220/mt
in Taiwan but rose $6.50-7.25/mt on July 1 due to falling downstream
paraxylene, and bearish sentiment from traders who expect the drop in
gasoline-related demand. Although prompt MX prices in Europe and the US remained
high, traders stated that arbitrage is becoming riskier as gasoline
specifications in the US shift towards winter. Any cargoes of MX must arrive in
the US no later than September. Sources said that shipping in August, at the
least, could prove too late. The US MX
price for July loading was 636 cents per gallon...
