Asian isomer MX was up $5/mt on the day to $671/mt FOB Korea. It was also up $5/mt to $694/mt for Taiwan, and $7/mt to $688/mt for CFR China. The laycan for June was $671/mt, unchanged from the afternoon price. Second-half May laycan and first-half of July laycan were both $671/mt, FOB Korea. This maintained a flat structure that was unchanged from the afternoon peg. Data as of May 9 shows that the MX/PX spread reached its highest level in the past year of $114.33/mt. However, South Korean producers of PX remain cautious when it comes to purchasing more MX. "Producers will not rely solely on the temporarily widening spread [to make more PX using MX ]....
