Asian isomer MX: Prices fall in spite of gains in crude oil Futures /Chinese petrol demand is on the rise /Crude oil futures are rising on the hope of interest rate reduction

On July 11, the price of Asian isomer MX fell, due to a decline in paraxylene and an increase in crude oil futures. On July 11, Asian isomer MX prices were down $7/mt per day, to $719/mt at FOB Korea, $740/mt at CFR Taiwan, and $737/mt for CFR China. MX prices maintained a downward trend between July and august as more supply was expected. A trader based in China said that "strong July and weaker August were recent trends... because Yulong will be here." FOB Korea prices were significantly higher than the domestic Chinese prices, closing down the spot import arbitrage opportunity for China. A China-based buyer stated that "there is no import opportunity"... 17,000mt of MX imported from Korea during the first week in July was mainly contract cargo....
