Due to the large buy-sell gap on August 18,
fixed-price discussions on methanol were sporadic in India. "Still market
expected price at $265-290/mt CFR level is the price sellers are interested in,
but they are not interested in that price." A seller stated that China is offering better bids and they
won't consider selling below $290-320/mt. "India
must improve its bids or there will be a gap in supply and demand, which will
automatically raise the price." Another
trader stated that Iran will not sell to India and may consider selling to
China because of the large gap. According
to a market source, a non-sanctioned Middle Eastern cargo was sold at a flat
