India Recycled PET: Prices hold stable despite ongoing monsoon / Prices hold stable despite falling bale values / Ongoing monsoon keeps overall demand low

Indian recycled polyethylene terephthalate prices were rangebound in the week to July 22, due to firmer virgin PET prices, despite lower bale prices and the ongoing monsoon keeping demand low. Bale prices were heard at Rupees 52/kg, down Rupees 4/ kg week over week. However, one recycler said bale prices were rising again. With the Middle East war pushing up virgin PET prices, a recycler said export demand remained firm, but higher freight costs were proving a challenge and capping price rises. One recycler said freight rates from India to the EU and the US have almost tripled in the last two weeks.
