Sources said that fundamentals in the Asian
market for methanol were positive Jan. 3, despite tight supply from Middle East. China did not receive a flood of new cargoes
from Middle East to help alleviate the low inventory on its eastern and
southern coasts. According to trade sources, sellers of Middle
East-origin Methanol prefer to sell to India because the prices are better there
than in China. Chinese methanol futures traded higher on Jan.
3. The active-trade May futures contract on Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange closed
at Yuan 2,669/mt January. 3, Yuan 64/mt more than the previous session. CFR China
methanol was valued at $4/mt more from Dec. 30, at $308/mt January 3. Methanol
