The Chinese methanol market saw a lot more
trading activity on July 19, after methanol futures lost some of their gains
the day before and a buyer booked the dip. On July 19, a 5,000-mt cargo from the Middle
East was traded at $305-320/mt. This information was verified
following the Market on Close assessment and could not have been used for July
19's assessment. After discussions that came to a narrow range of
$305-$310/mt on July 18, the deal was reached. However,
there was an offer to import a 10,000-mt cargo in August at $304-320/mt CFR
China. This piqued some interest, but trade didn't materialize before the close
