Idemitsu Kosan operates No.2 SM unit at lower rates

Idemitsu Kosan is presently running its No.2 Styrene monomer (SM) unit at curtailed capacity levels. A source in Japan informed a team member, “The company is currently operating its unit at around 70% of production capacity levels. The reason for the production cut could not be determined, and attempts to obtain confirmation from an authorized source were unsuccessful.” Located in Tokuyama, Japan, the No.2 unit has a production capacity of 220,000 mt/year.
