paper holds steady



Trade momentum in the
Asian benzene markets increased on May 6 due to a stronger crude oil market, which
led participants to reconsider their positions. Open deal trade for June loading FOB South Korea cargo was
made in the late afternoon. It was sealed at $1,180-1,200/mt. It's still higher than the $1,175-1,195/mt last bid and
lower than the $1,180-1,200/mt offer. The
June/July structure was widened during the day by a spread bid, leaving the
backwardation structure at plus $11/mt. Already,
floating offers for July FOB Korea cargoes were received at plus $18-24/mt,
which is higher than the July weekly Mean of Korea base price. On the same basis, the highest floating bid was received at
plus $12-16/mt. Although benzene looked
strong, the physical benzene/naphtha spread was not...
