Asian polypropylene prices rose on March 9 due to a spike in upstream oil
prices. Due to higher energy costs and uncertain demand, some plants
in the region saw their production rates drop. Sources said that China's inventory remained high. However,
traders pointed out that China's lackluster end-user demand was still a
problem. One market participant stated
that warehouses were "practically full." Spot trade in the import market was negligible but price
indications rose based on bullish sentiment. Sources in China expect PP to stay
elevated due to strong upsides in the crude oil markets. "I don’t see crude oil falling any time soon. A source stated that the cost pressure on PP is high and the
