Asian paraxylene rose $12/mt to $985.92/mt
CFR unv1/China and $965.92-$985/mt FBO Korea Nov. 3, on the back of stronger
demand for December cargoes. During
the Market on Close assessment process Nov. 3rd, buying interest outpaced
selling as GS Caltex Singapore and SKGC Singapore raised their bids to $999/mt
each for Asia-origin December cargoes at the market close. This was up $34-$39/mt
over the initial level. Paraxylene and
naphtha spreads continued to increase towards $300-$320/mt, increasing $13-$18/mt
on Nov. 3 at $296.92-$314.105/mt. This was in line with wider PX/naphtha
spreads trading in the derivatives marketplace. One source claimed that the rise was due to talk of cutbacks
at one Chinese producer. This would have an impact on paraxylene production of
