Sinopec is and Ineos, the global chemical producer, are planning to construct a
new high density joint venture polyethylene plant in Tianjin. It will be a
50/50 joint venture. The plant is expected to go online by 2023. Ineos
stated that the companies plan to construct two additional 500,000 mt/year HDPE
plant to produce Ineos pipe grades under license. Sources say that China's
demand is increasing for polyethylene, but it remains low, despite the fact
that buyers have been reluctant to purchase in recent months due to uncertain
