Asia HDPE: Increases due to tight supply- Brent rises $1.57/b on day- China imports lower than year in DecemberThe Asian high-density plasticethylene
prices rose slightly due to higher discussions during the week of February 1. Due to plant turnarounds
in Middle East, some tight supply was evident. The ICE April Brent crude oils futures contract rose $1.57/b
on the day to $86.03/b by 4:30 PM Singapore time (0830 GMT), Feb. 1. According to recent custom statistics, China imports fell
year-on-year. Traders said this was due to
low demand in December. HDPE imports fell
18.6% year-on-year and 22.7% month-on month in December. LDPE prices fell 10.9% month-on-month, but rose 2.7% year
over year. LLDPE prices fell 2.6%
month-on-month, but rose 25.8% year over year. China imports between 500,000 and 600,000 mt/month HDPE,
