of 2023According to market sources, Asian
high-density plastic ethylene prices dropped in the week ending Aug. 3, due to
weak demand. On
Aug. 3, the October ICE Brent crude oil futures fell $1.09/b to $99.48/b. Due to China's economic weakness and restrictions on
movement, converters were hesitant to buy. China's SINOPEC is planning to construct a new 500,000
mt/year joint venture polyethylene plant in Tianjin. This joint venture will be
a 50/50 venture and is expected to go online by 2023. INEOS stated that the companies plan to construct two
additional 500,000 mt/year HDPE plants to produce INEOS pipe grade. However,
they did not elaborate. On August 3, the
South Asian HDPE market saw a drop in prices....
