On April 26, the Asian
benzene market gained momentum due to expectations of tightening in the region
as a result of lower production. A bid for June FOB Korea
cargo was made at $1,110-1,150/mt at 0800 GMT. An unknown seller booked the bid, which progressively
increased to $1-2/mt. The H2 May second
bid was last heard at $1,130-1,150/mt. This continued support for the H2
May-June structural at plus $10-12/mt forwarding. FOB Korea benzene physical markers rose $14-16/mt on the day
to $11,125-11,225/mt. The East China
domestic market for benzene gained momentum on the day. Price discussions
finally broke through the Yuan 8,500-9,000/mt mark at the front of the curve. The last time H2 May benzene was traded at Yuan 8.500/mt against
