In the week ended March 21, there were few new discussions on the Asian monoethylene-glycols market. The weak downstream demand has continued to affect the MEG buying interest as buyers face an oversupply of MEG and a tepid market. This week, there has been little change in the supply and demand. Inventory levels remain high and we haven't noticed any improvement in purchasing activities. "Operating rates have not changed, and demand for MEG has been muted this past week", said a producer of polyester. Market sources reported that operating rates at polyester plants were unchanged from week to week at 91.5%. Participants reported that the demand for bottle-grade PET chip was also sluggish.
