In the week ended March 21, there were few new discussions on the Asian Monoethylene Glycols market. The weak downstream demand has continued to affect the MEG buying interest as buyers face an oversupply of MEG and a tepid market. This week, there has been little change in the supply and demand. Inventory levels remain high and we have not seen an improvement in purchasing activities. "Operating rates haven't increased, so MEG demand is low this week," a polyester manufacturer said. Market sources reported that operating rates at polyester plants were unchanged from week to week at 91.5%. Demand for bottle-grade PET chip was also sluggish and participants reported slow trade. The week saw a softening of the demand for MEG, as few buyers were actively seeking to import cargoes....
