Asia's glycol market was quiet during the week ending March 28. Few discussions were heard, especially for monoethylene glycol. Some sources claim that discussions were also affected by a conference taking place in China. The slight improvement in crude oil prices has boosted the market sentiment, but demand remains sluggish due to weakness downstream. Sources said that demand for polyester was still low, and buying activity in the past week was limited. PET bottles inventories in the bottle-grade were slightly lower this week. However, some participants expressed concern about a possible reversal due to the slow demand. Sources said that the operating rates of polyester plants were unchanged from week to week.
