The US spot acrylonitrile price
remained stable over the week of Aug. 23. Market participants did not report
any trades, bids, or offers on the week. Spot ACN US at $1,700/mt
FOB USGC Aug. 23, based upon previously heard talk about spot ACN in the
$1.700-$1,740 range from a producer. Domestic
ACN was stable at 81.75 Cents per lb delivered. This assessment was based upon an industry-acceptable
formula that took into account the 45.5c/lb July CGP settlement and the $960/mt
July ammonia CP. According to one source,
US ACN demand was starting to decline. "Producers have been reducing their
rates to meet demand... but the reduction in production has made it impossible
to sell." One source predicts that
the US propylene contract...
