Chinese glacial acid prices increased Yuan 50/mt per day, and Yuan 200/mt per week on March 25. This is based on a market indication of Yuan 7,00/mt. A company source reported March 21 that China's Wanhua Chemical shut down a line of its acrylic acid plant, which had a capacity of 160,000 mt/year. The reason was production quality problems. Wanhua Chemical operates two acrylic acid lines with a total production of 320,000 mt/year. It is expected that the shutdown will last 10 days. The downstream demand has improved as it is the transition period for new contracts. A domestic trader stated that there is a requirement to purchase inventory while awaiting the new contract.
