MTBE in Asia rose by $14-19/mt on May 11,
mainly due to higher crude oil prices and wider gasoline cracks. The July ICE Brent crude
contract at 4:30 pm Singapore time was up 65 cents/b compared to the previous
Asian closing at $76.96/b. At 0830 GMT the gasoline crack for the crude futures
had widened by 8.58%, to $8.86/barrel. On
May 11, no bids or offer were heard for FOB Singapore and the MTBE Factor was
unchanged at 1.239. The traders stated
that CFR China negotiations were currently underway with bids at slightly less
than $900/mt compared to the offers of $930-$950/mt. Traders heard, but did not confirm, that MTBE was being
