Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel virtually inaugurated India’s largest chlorotoluene facility in Dahej. The plant was established by Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited. The facility, which cost Rs350 crore to build, will produce chlorine-based chemicals like benzylchloride, benzylalcohol, and benzaldehyde. This expansion will strengthen Gujarat's status as a chemical hub and increase exports to foreign markets.
Improving Production and Export Capabilities
The plant, with a production capacity of 30000 tons per year, will significantly increase India's chemical exports to Europe, America and South Asia. GACL anticipates that the facility will generate around Rs130 crores in foreign currency, strengthening India's position on the global chemical markets. GACL's use of chlorine in the manufacture of high-value products continues to support Gujarat's industrial development and job creation.
