As gasoline prices fell in Asia, Asian MTBE
continues its bear run. Asian
FOB Singapore MTBE fell $51-56/mt to $1,038-1,070/mt on July 13. The 92RON gasoline crack fell 9.6% to 12.24 from 13.54.
Meanwhile, the 92RON gasoline price dropped to $112.74-150.50/b from $118.16-150.50/b
during the same period. Due to a 9.60%
drop in RON92 gasoline crack, the Asian MTBE factor was lower at 1.090 than
1.091. During the Close assessment, there
were no offers or bids registered in the Asia Market. Asia traders stated that there was not enough demand for the
market and that buyers were very reluctant to buy. One market source said that arbitrage between China and the
Straits should end. China sellers would be equally cautious in the face of a
falling MTBE...
