The
mood on the Asian naphtha markets cooled down May 16, as trading began for the
H1 July cycle against a backdrop that was a lackluster demand in downstream. Three tenders were issued, and one was concluded. The derivatives market reflected a weaker market sentiment
in mid-afternoon trading on May 16, as brokers set the front-month swap spread
for June-July naphthalene at minus 25c/mt. This was down from parity after the
Asian close of May 15. A trader stated
that he was expecting a slight improvement in the demand for naphtha cargoes
arriving in July, but that since the front month time spread is in contango we
will have to wait and...
