Asian FOB Singapore MTBE gained $24.43-30.50/mt
to $1,065.35-1,100.50/mt on Aug. 18, due to higher buying interest and gains in
the energy sector. Due
to increased buying interest in front-month lay can cargoes, the backwardation
forward curve structure was maintained. According
to a Singapore market source, the supply of prompt cargoes is limited. The
market source also stated that fewer Chinese MTBE cargoes were coming to
Singapore. The MTBE market was also
supported by the gains in the energy sector. The 92 RON rose 2.68% to $107.80-120.50/b. Meanwhile, the
front-month ICE Brent crude oil futures were 2.37% more than the previous
