- Forward curve in contango- FOB-DDP spread widens

Due to higher upstream crude oil prices, US
Gulf Coast benzene was slightly lower on Sept. 14. Crude futures settled
higher as tighter supply forecasts and easing inflation worries overshadowed
trimmed demand outlooks. NYMEX October WTI
closed $1.17 lower at $88.48-93.50/b. ICE November Brent settled at $94.10-100.35/b. Sources indicated that benzene would likely move along with
crude volatility in the near term due to reduced demand for styrene. Sources say the forward curve was still in contango because
styrene production resumes in October and November. The FOB-DDP spread increased to a 1-cent premium.
