FOB Korea surges $48/mt on week Sinopec
to start the Hainan PX line in May

rose $48/mt week to $11,135/mt FOB Korea, and $49/mt $1,145/mt CFR Taiwan May
6, amid tight supply. This was in spite of the $4/mt increase in the CFR China
price at $1,050/mt. According to a Japanese
trader, inventory levels of MX in Japan's key exporting country Japan remain
low due to ongoing production problems following the earthquake in March and
Taiyo Oil's planned maintenance from mid-May through August. According to market sources, the demand for June cargoes in FOB
Korea seemed stronger than the supply during the week. The spread between PX and MX was $62-68/mt on May 6th, the
