FOB Korea isomer-MX jumps $22-25/mt MX-PX spread narrows as PX rises
$4.34/mt



Asian isomer-grade mixed xylene was valued up to $22-25/mt on the day at $1,125-1,150/mt FOB Korea. It
was stable at $1.077/mt China on April 21 due to bullish buying interest in H2 May
cargoes. The sharp rise in FOB Korea isomer MX
prices outpacing the $1/mt increase in naphtha on a day to $910-920/mt Japanese,
pushed the spread to $210-230/mt, a new two-year high, according to Commodity
Insights data. This was the largest gap since reaching $220-240/mt on March 16,
2020. The market participants differed on
whether or not isomer-MX was overvalued at the moment. A trader stated that MX was not strong right now, and added:
"I think naphtha's weak." The
