- FOB Korea, CFR Unv1 MX tumble $47-53/mt- PX down 40-45/mtAsian isomer-grade mixed xylenes fell $47-53/mt
on the day to $1,029-1,050/mt FBO Korea and $989-1010/mt CFRUnv1. The market
continued to sound bearish after crude oil prices dropped and after gasoline
blending, demand declined. The September ICE Brent crude oil
futures dropped $4.12/b and $100.50-120.50/b at the Asian close at 0830 GMT.
This caused paraxylene's decline of $40-45/mt at $1,099-1,140/mt China CFR
Unv1.China. Based on CFR Unv1/China MX and FOB Korea MX, the
PX-MX spread increased $7-8/mt to $70.25-75.35/mt. At $95.92-100.01/mt,
the spread was at its widest point since May 24, when it was at $95.92-100.01/mt. The market
seemed to be in a bearish mood, with traders saying that arbitrage to the US
was not possible. September prices and US demand looked much weaker than...
