to a decrease in gasoline blending, and low rates at the petrochemical
crackers, the European naphtha market saw weak demand on December 1. Sources
say that European blend activity has slowed down and is unlikely to recover as
the US has replenished its stocks. "Demand for gasoline will
drop," sources say. One source stated that diesel yields are
preferred now, despite some blending. "US arbitrage is still open,
but we will see more stock builds." According to the US Energy
Information Administration, total US gasoline inventories increased by 2.8
million barrels to 213.8 million barrels during the week ending Nov. 25. According
to sources, the demand for petrochemicals remained subdued due to the
