The US Gulf Coast spot propylene levels
remained stable over the week ending July 13, despite the minimal market activity.
However, the upstream propylene monomer levels remained unchanged week-on-week. The US export homopolymer injection grade PP was
unchanged at $1,918-1,940/mt or 87-88c/lb, FAS Houston, despite last-talked
rail car pricing indications of 82c/lb. Spot PP
transactions domestically at a high of 70s cents/lb were also taken into
consideration. The co-polymer grade was also assessed stable at
$1984-$2,006/mt or 90-91c/lb on a FAS Houston basis, based upon talk of a 3-cent
premium to homopolymer grades. According to market feedback, there
was little interest in exporting PP resin. Buyers were reluctant to pay higher
prices after years of paying...
