flakes shortage continues■ Increased SupplyThe market dynamics for European recycled
polyethylene Terephthalate were mixed over the seven-day period ending Aug. 3,
despite largely unchanged fundamentals. Due to the summer holidays, the market saw very little
activity. Sources indicated that some
companies from the Northwest and South will be taking a break for most of
August. Sources said that post-consumer
bales supply saw significant improvements despite the limited changes in the
recycled PET complex. This pushed the spot price up. The recycled market saw a rise in the number of bottles due
to high beverage consumption and warm weather throughout Europe. According to a UK recycler, fewer bales are being shipped to
Europe. Clear flakes demand has declined
due to high inventories and the summer break. Spot prices for both materials remained the same week...
