European recycled HDPE spot price fell in the week ending Dec. 21, owing to a
lack of buy interest and low sentiment before year-end. The same sentiment
was seen in the virgin market, with recyclables demand also stable but at a low
level. Sources said that January would see little change as recyclers and
consumers continue to run longer year-end maintenances due to weak
demand. Spot prices in the virgin market were stable despite receiving
more offers. However, consumer demand was subdued due to recession and
inflation that limited discretionary spending as well as a weak construction
