Low DemandEuropean producers of polyvinyl chloride expected
August demand to fall amid concerns about a recession in the US and Europe
before September. This month is when buyers return to replenish
stocks. One producer said that converters would rather work with
higher-priced stocks from the first half of 2022 than purchasing additional
contractual stocks on lower orders from key segments of the construction
sector. This is because projects are being canceled or reduced in an
inflationary spiral. The August industry-settled contract price of
upstream ethylene dropped by Eur70-72/mt from July. A second producer tried to
