the week ending Nov. 9, the European low density polyethylene spot markets saw
limited activity. The market was slow to start the month and continues to see
weak demand. A distributor said that clients prefer to pay their bills
through their contracts. The slower than expected settlement of the
November industry-settled ethylene price was a hindrance to LDPE contract
settlements. The delay in the November industry-settled Ethylene contract
price agreement also limited activity in the spot market. The November
European industry-settled ethylene contract price settled Eur35 more than the
October price of Eur1,295/mt Nov. 4. Due to European bank holidays and
diverging pricing expectations of buyers and sellers, the settlement was
delayed. There is still weak demand...
