the week ending February 8, there was a slight uptake in activity on the
European spot market for low density polyethylene, indicating sentiments of
price rises. The European ethylene industry settled contract price was
increased by Eur85/mt on Jan. 31 due to increases in naphtha prices in January. Divergent
views have been expressed by market players in Europe's LDPE market. Some
players were surprised at the unexpectedly higher monomer price. Some
players were unsure how this will turn out, given the unpredictable market. As
the European market expected, demand has remained weak and buying interest has
