to continued market volatility, the European ethylene spot market activity was
very limited during the week ending Dec. 16. In the week to December 16,
the European ethylene market was illiquid. The weak demand for ethylene was a
major reason. They are not optimistic about any increase in buying
activity and do not expect demand to return back to normal levels until the
second half 2023. A trader stated that there is a "very downbeat
view" of next year. He said that nobody expects to see any improvement in
the second half next year. To meet the shortage of demand in Europe,
producers have decreased their cracker production to 60% to 65%. The
European ethylene market is still oversupplied despite this reduction...
