Impact sentimentAsian Ethylene spot price rose at the end of the week of Aug. 26, due to higher buying interest, stable upstream prices, and
a recent rise in downstream styrene monomer prices. According to market
sources, Chinese domestic prices are higher than import values. This has helped
increase import demand in China. Market
participants stated that although downstream demand is still slow, there was
potential for increased ethylene prices due to recent strength in raw materials
costs and an increase in downstream SM values. The styrene monomer indicator rose $52-57/mt week-on-week to
$1,084-1,120/mt China Aug. 26. Spot Korea
