Discussion levels rise on week amid naphtha increases ■ Some crackers consider
reducing run rates for April on unprofitable ethylene production ■ YNCC restarts No. 1 cracker,
current run rate at 60% The week saw a rise in Asian ethylene
discussion levels due to a spike in feedstock naphtha price above the 1,000/mt
C+F Japan cargo mark. Sellers raised their offers due to pressure from the
compressed ethylene production margins. Due
to eroded downstream margins, some buyers increased their buying intentions to
$1250-1280/mt CFR Northeast Asia. However, they were reluctant to meet sellers
at $1,300-1,330/mt CFR Northeast Asia. A
market source said that freight rates have impacted sentiment. Quotes for
shipment from Taiwan to China were at least $20-25/mt more at $70-75/mt as
compared to $50-55/mt one week ago. Some
